1. Death of Ezeudu:
i) Revered in death as an ancestor.
ii) Funeral of a noble warrior foreshadows Okonkwo’s burial.
2. The death of Ezeudu’s son:
i) Okonkwo becomes the victim of the harsh laws that he rigidly upheld.
ii) Okonkwo’s confusion in his understanding of the clan’s customs and values.
iii) Okonkwo’s third offence against the earth god, Ani.
iv) Ibo society is vulnerable to weaknesses in its own social structure.
v) Severity of Ibo customs results in complete obliteration of Okonkwo’s identity in the clan.
