Projects & Reading
1. Oral Assessments:
i) Educators can choose to assess the task as either a group or individual project.
ii) Suggested lessons for presentation are LESSONS 58 and 59.
iii) Should educators decide that learners be assessed on both projects, presentation lessons as per schedule may have to be changed.
iv) Unprepared reading assessments are scheduled for LESSON 10.
v) Prepared reading assessments are scheduled for LESSON 20.
Unprepared Reading Assessment:
1. Reading extracts:
i) Choose extracts ahead of assessments.
ii) Extracts should be a page in length.
iii) Extracts should contain some dialogue.
iv) Extracts should contain interesting aspects of the novel.
2. Audience Reading Techniques:
i) Introduce yourself.
ii) Give the title of the novel and name of writer.
iii) Engage with the audience:

- Maintain eye contact.
- Enunciate clearly.
- Use correct intonation.
- Be conscious of body language.
iv) Use expression when reading dialogue.
Prepared Reading Assessment:
1. Reading extracts:
i) Learners to choose and revise extracts ahead of assessments.
ii) Extracts should be a page in length.
iii) Extracts should contain some dialogue.
iv) Extracts should contain interesting aspects of the novel.
v) A copy of the reading must be presented to the educator on the day of assessment.
2. Audience Reading Techniques:
i) Introduce yourself.
ii) Give the title of the novel and name of writer.
iii) Explain the context of the chosen passage.
iv) Engage with the audience:
- Maintain eye contact.
- Enunciate clearly.
- Use correct intonation.
- Be conscious of body language.
v) Use expression when reading dialogue.
