ii) Irony of the house names.
iii) Use of humour.
- Read Extract on Estelle as an example of the humour.
‘On Saturday afternoons… that looked like that.’ Part One: Morning 1955:
iv) Descriptive language, Irony.
1. Learners to draw an aerial view of District 6 from the written descriptions.
2. Learners to translate the written word into an image:
i) Create a collage for each of the sections:
- Part One: Morning
- Part Two: Afternoon
- Part Three: Night.
ii) At the end of each section, learners are to contribute images to indicate the tone of each section.
