Project and Reading
1.Oral Assessments:
i) Suggested lessons for Project Presentations are LESSONS 48 & 49.
ii) Unprepared Reading assessments are scheduled for LESSON 10.
iii) Prepared Reading assessments are scheduled for LESSON 15.
Unprepared Reading Assessment:
1. Reading extracts:
i) Educator to choose extracts ahead of assessments.
ii) Extracts should be a page in length.
iii) Extracts should contain some dialogue.
iv) Extracts should contain interesting aspects of the novel.
2. Audience Reading Techniques:
Learners to:
i) Introduce themselves.
ii) Give the title of the novel and the name of the writer.
iii) Engage with the audience:
- Maintain eye contact.
- Enunciate clearly.
- Use correct intonation.
- Be conscious of body language.
iv) Use expression when reading dialogue.
Prepared Reading Assessment:
1. Reading extracts:
i) Learners to choose and revise extracts ahead of assessments.
ii) Extracts should be a page in length.
iii) Extracts should contain some dialogue.
iv) Extracts should contain interesting aspects of the novel.
v) A copy of the reading must be presented to the educator on the day of assessment.
2. Audience Reading Techniques:
Learners to:
i) Introduce themselves.
ii) Give the title of the novel and the name of the writer.
iii) Give a brief synopsis of the story.
iv) Explain the context of the chosen passage, and give a motivation for their choice of passage.
v) Engage with the audience:
- Maintain eye contact.
- Enunciate clearly.
- Use correct intonation.
- Be conscious of body language.
vi) Use expression when reading dialogue.
