Lesson 40:
Open Task
The choice of task is dependent on the beliefs of learners and the ethos of the school. Choose the one that will be most appropriate:
Learners may:
- write a blessing
- write a wish
- write an inscription on a talisman
- make a dream catcher
- or write an apology.
1. Learners may write a BLESSING of hope and peace for all child soldiers and/or Ishmael Beah:

2. Learners may write a WISH of hope and peace for all child soldiers and/or Ishmael Beah.
3. Learners may write an INSCRIPTION of hope and peace for all child soldiers and/or Ishmael Beah.
4. Learners may make a DREAM CATCHER to catch the bad dreams of child soldiers and/or Ishmael Beah.
Bamboo soaked in water, or flexible sticks can be used to make the hoop.
5. As Ishmael Beah, learners are to write an OPEN LETTER OF APOLOGY, of 250-300 words, for their actions as a child soldier. This letter is not specifically addressed to anyone, but is rather a cathartic exercise for Beah.
